Burial Insurance Cost Guide — Updated 2026
Actual monthly premiums from Security National Life — not projections. See exactly what a policy costs based on your age, gender, and tobacco status.
Burial insurance (also called final expense insurance) costs anywhere from $18/month to $200+/month depending on your age at application, gender, health classification, and tobacco use. Unlike term life insurance, burial insurance may be offered as immediate coverage at the preferred rate, and your premium is locked in for life once issued.
The tables below show real monthly EFT rates from Security National Life's Loyalty Plan — the same plan GraceCover uses for all quotes. These are Preferred (healthiest) rates. If you have health conditions, you'll see a Modified rate instead. Either way, the rates below represent what a policy actually costs — not a sales approximation.

What Affects Your Rate
Burial insurance rates aren't one-size-fits-all. Here's what underwriters look at when calculating your monthly premium.
The single biggest factor. The younger you are when you apply, the lower your rate — and that rate is locked in for life. Waiting 5 years can mean paying 20–30% more every month.
Women consistently pay less for burial insurance than men at the same age. This reflects longer average life expectancy data used by insurance carriers.
Smokers and tobacco users pay roughly 35–40% more than non-tobacco users. If you quit for 12+ months before applying, you can often qualify for the lower non-tobacco rate.
Preferred (no/minor health issues) gets the lowest rates. Modified (some conditions like COPD, diabetes with complications) pays more but still gets insured. Most common conditions still qualify.
